My son, coffee, dancing, the ocean, chocolate, champagne, sunshine: these are a few of my favorite things…

Koa: The Love of My Life

Hi! I’m Taylor and I am the proud new mama of Mr. Koa Kingston, my greatest accomplishment. I always knew I wanted to be a mother. Ask my own mom! She will tell you I had all the baby dolls in the world and was a little mommy when my brother was born. What I didn’t know about motherhood, was how amazing it is and how much love I would have for my son. It is other-worldly, to say the least. Everything comes into focus when you have a baby. Although I don’t and never will have all the right answers, I do know that everything I do from now on, is for him.

Before Koa was born, my primary focus in my life was dance. As a dancer by trade but also by heart my mission has become lacing together the journey of motherhood with my desire to create. This fire inside me to create and live dance started when I was a little girl growing up in the tiny town of Ketchikan, Alaska.

Dance: My First Love

I’ve been dancing since I was 4 years old and even then, I loved it. Expressing myself through movement has always been easier for me than words, (and yet ironically here I am blogging!) Dancing was what got me through the struggles of high school (and man did I have some struggles!).  In college, I contemplated giving up and choosing a major that was more likely to land me a job. The harder I tried to stay away from dance, the harder it kept pulling me back in.

Fast forward a few years and I received my Bachelors in Theatre and Dance from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Soon after graduating, I knew I had to keep dancing and auditioned for Momentum Dance Collective. I have found a home in this dance family and just finished my second season as a company member. I always expected I would move to a big city to continue my dancing career. Life, however, throws curve balls (the cutest and most cuddly curve balls though!)

After having Koa I knew my dreams would be different but I also knew that having a baby doesn’t mean that your dreams can no longer be possible. My goal is to create, to choreograph, to collaborate and to grow into a more mature, artistic and successful dancer, choreographer and blogger. This is my journey, come along for the ride.
